I was part of the Research Placement Program at QUT Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation. I investigated how to best integrate the Microsurgery Training Device with a hand rest in order to simulate surgeries. This device is used by medical students to practice suturing. Dr. Onur Bas, the engineer of this device, supervised my investigation and I conducted interviews with surgeons to inform my designs.

I created sketches of the device to easily convey ideas to my supervisor and used CAD software for 3D prototyping and user testing. This hand rest follows the microsurgery wrist position of the surgeon and seamlessly integrates as an attachment. It was ensured that the hand rest fit the specifications of the device using technical drawings.
